报告人简介

Chong Wang is an assistant professor at Tsinghua University. He received his B.Sc. in Physics from Nanjing University in 2014 and his Ph.D. in Science from the Institute for Advanced Study, Tsinghua University, in 2019. From 2019 to 2024 he carried out postdoctoral research in the Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University and in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington. He joined the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University in 2024. Wang’s research centers on computational and theoretical condensed-matter physics, with an emphasis on the design and investigation of novel quantum materials.

报告摘要

The interplay between topology and electronic correlations has become a central theme in the study of moiré superlattices. Recent experiments revealing fractional topological phases in twisted bilayer MoTe2 have intensified interest in this material. In this talk, I will present our recent work on these fractional phases, emphasizing the modelling of single-particle band structures. Specifically, I will discuss (a) a brief introduction to twisted bilayer MoTe2, (b) accurate band-structure modelling over a range of twist angles, and (c) many-body calculations that support correlated topological phases and their excitations. I will conclude with an outlook on future opportunities and challenges in the study of twisted moiré superlattices.
