What to See in Fujian – Attractions

Xiamen

Located on the southeast coast of China, Xiamen enjoys a pleasant climate and beautiful natural environment. There are many tourist areas in this city. Among them, the most attractive place should be the Gulangyu Island. With rich tourist resources of intriguing scenery, historical relics and architectures of varied styles, the Gulangyu is a must-see during your trip to Xiamen. Xiamen Twin Towers is one of Xiamen's iconic urban landscapes. The two separate towers are connected by podiums. It looks like beautiful sails and incorporates the visual elements of Xiamen City's “Triangle Plum”.

Wuyi Mountain

Wuyi Mountain is the most outstanding area for biodiversity conservation in southeast China and a refuge for a large number of ancient, relict species, many of them endemic to China. The serene beauty of the dramatic gorges of the Nine Bend River, with its numerous temples and monasteries, many now in ruins, provided the setting for the development and spread of Neo-Confucianism, which has been very influential in the cultures of East Asia since the 11th century. Places of interest include the Nine-Turning Stream and 36 peaks and 99 rocks.

Yongding Tulou

Tulou, which translates as “earthen buildings,” are a distinctive architectural style found only in Fujian province’s Yongding District. These doughnut-shaped houses are native to the Fujianese Hakka people, some of whom still reside there today. Each house consists of a circular outer ring surrounding an open-air central shrine. Among them, the “six complexes and four buildings” comprising forty-six earthen buildings chosen for World Culural Heritage status are doubtless the best.
